The Intermediate course is suited to the spearfisher or recreational diver who already has some freediving experience. It covers freedive physiology and training methodology in detail and introduces some more advanced techniques used by competitive freedivers.
Topics covered include:
freedive safety for pool and open water
technique:
frenzel/mouthfill equalisation
monofin/bifin technique
streamlining
pool and line turns
pre-dive warmup routine
targeted training methods for recreation or competition
weighting and dive strategy
equipment choice and setup
freediving psychology
Practical sessions are dedicated to each of the core freediving disciplines: Static, Dynamic and Constant Weight. Although individual fitness and experience varies, graduates of this course could normally expect to be able to achieve a depth of 10-25m, a horizontal swim of 50-75m and achieve a static breathhold of 4 minutes. Support is provided for divers wishing to exceed these performances or specialise in a particular discipline, as long as we are confident that this can be done safely.
